USPS Forever Stamps: Vintage Seed Packets

The United States Postal Service does it again with another beautiful Forever stamp run.  While I love the bicycling forever stamps and the Americana themed stamps, this one really caught my eye.  It must be Spring!  Check out the Vintage Seed Packet stamps and remember to send some tangible mail!

History of New York in 50 Objects

The Bagel

Tree of Hope

First Yankee Stadium Program

Armory Show Stamp

Came across this article in the NY Times and read through the list of objects highlighted.  I really couldn't think of anything that could be New Yorkier than what the author picked besides a big salty NY pretzel.  The Bernstein baton, the metro card, subway maps, greek coffee cup, all spot on.

Spotlight: GB's Olympic Stamps

Full slideshow of stamps and the others I didn't include because they aren't as fun.

Kudos to Marcus James, head of design and editorial at Royal Mail, for printing a bespoke stamp for every British gold medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games.  Vowing to print a stamp by lunchtime the next day after a British athlete took gold, James and his crew successfully did just that –a total of 29!

James on the template:

‘The chevron shape is influenced by the London 2012 branding, and to be honest it’s been our friend – it really forces you to look carefully at the images and the crop that you’re using.

‘It also allows you to crop out background and other international athletes - the things you don’t want on the stamps.’  Ha, I rather like that last bit.
