River Day: Susquehanna

truck and canoe

Read about our trip on the Susquehanna river last weekend.  The weather turned out great and the company not so bad.

All smiles on the canoe (I'm in the striped shirt)

Turns out, dog loves the water

Up front I apologize for the quality of the pictures, but I was mildly concerned about our likelihood for tipping in an overloaded canoe so only pictures via iphone.

Last weekend was coincidentally River Day on the Susquehanna.  It was intended to be a mid to late afternoon paddle starting in White's Ferry down to the Falls bridge in northeast PA.  We did a longer version of this trip last year (here).  Dark clouds lingered in the morning, but were gone by early afternoon.  Along the way we encountered blue Heron, turtles, fish and eagles.  The current was very strong and worked in our favor.  There were fisherman and campers along the river edge taking in the beauty of their surroundings. When we hit land in Falls my sisters picked us up with Muffin (the dog) in tow.  After the initial hesitation, Muffin seemed to really take to the water and enjoy her first-ever swim!
